Annie Penn Hospital Sets the Pace for the 2010 LIVE UNITED Campaign

An Award Winning Campaign Raises $47,697!!

Annie Penn Hospital, a Pacesetter for United Way, with a "Be A Hero" theme for their campaign last year, enjoyed a bake sale, games, lunch, and give-aways. A special early bird drawing for those who designated their giving to United Way of Rockingham County by the end of the day-long kickoff celebration ended in congratulations to Irma Cunningham and John Kubecka who each won a flat-screen TV! For those departments who had 100% giving, department managers were honored with the fine privilege of kissing a pig at the close of the campaign. That privilege was also shared by the new hospital President, Mickey Foster, and our own United Way Executive Director, Rick Hurley! Everyone enjoyed the laughs! At the close of Annie Penn's campaign, $47,697 had been raised to help improve the lives of people in Rockingham County through the United Way. Thanks, Annie Penn Hospital!

When the campaign coordinator for the event, Sharon Troxler, was asked how they were able to raise so much money, she said the method was quite simple:

First, involve all levels of staff in the planning process and the implementation of the event.

Second, have fun!

Third, give incentives to win that encourage employees to make their pledge on the first day of the campaign.

Fourth, make sure the leadership of the company is involved in the campaign and encourages leadership giving from management.

Fifth, celebrate your successful campaign.

And finally, thank everybody often throughout the entire process.
